Welcome to Dwella ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your data when you use the Dwella mobile application (the "App").
By using Dwella, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Account Information
When you create an account or sign in to Dwella, we collect:
- Name: Your display name for identification within the app
- Email Address: Used for account authentication and communication
- Profile Picture: Optional image you upload to personalize your profile
- Authentication Data: Provided by Firebase Authentication when you sign in with Google
2. Task and Household Data
To provide the core functionality of the App, we collect and store:
- Tasks: Task names, descriptions, due dates, due times, completion status, repeat settings, assigned rooms, and assigned household members
- Household Information: Household names, invite codes, member lists, and household creation dates
- Completion History: Records of when tasks are marked as complete
- Room Data: Names of rooms you create for organizing tasks
3. Usage Data
We may collect information about how you interact with the App, including:
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version
- App Performance Data: Crash reports and diagnostic information to improve app stability

We do NOT collect or track your location data.

- Cloud Storage: Your data is stored using Google Firebase Firestore, a secure cloud-based database service
- Local Storage: Some data is cached locally on your device using SwiftData for offline access and improved performance
- Profile Pictures: Stored as compressed base64-encoded data in Firestore (limited to approximately 800KB per image)
Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Data is transmitted over secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
- Firebase Authentication provides secure user authentication
- Access to your data is restricted to authorized household members only
- We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes
Data Retention
- Your data is retained as long as your account is active
- You can delete your tasks and household data at any time through the App
- When you delete your account, your personal data will be removed from our systems

Google Firebase
We use Firebase for:
- Firebase Authentication: Secure user authentication and account management
- Cloud Firestore: Cloud-based database for storing and syncing your data
- Firebase Services: App performance monitoring and crash reporting

Google Sign-In
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google will share your basic profile information (name, email, profile picture) with Dwella. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Within Your Household
When you join or create a household in Dwella:
- Your name and profile picture are visible to other household members
- Tasks you create or are assigned to are visible to all household members
- Your task completion activity is visible to household members
We Do NOT Share Your Data With:
- Advertisers or marketing companies
- Data brokers
- Any third parties for their own marketing purposes
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., court orders, subpoenas).
Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can view all your data within the App
- Correction: You can edit your profile information, tasks, and household data at any time
- Deletion: You can delete tasks, leave households, or delete your account
- Data Portability: You can request a copy of your data by contacting us
- Opt-Out: You can sign out and stop using the App at any time
How to Exercise Your Rights
- To edit your profile: Go to the More tab → Settings → Edit Profile
- To delete tasks: Swipe left on any task or use the delete option
- To leave a household: Go to household settings and select "Leave Household"

Children's Privacy
Dwella is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will delete such information.
International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside your country of residence. By using Dwella, you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States and other countries where Firebase operates data centers.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Posting the new Privacy Policy in the App
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- Sending you a notification if the changes are significant
Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
